Tractor Rear-Mounted Snow Blowers
PTO-driven Tractor Rear-Mounted Snow Blowers are available for compact up to full-sized tractors. Thus, the various makes/models can differ widely as to their dimensions, handling capacity, horsepower requirements, cutting/ejection system, etc. Versus the front-mounted types, rear-mounted models are usually less expensive, can be put on any three-point- hitch tractor, and allow use of the front-end loader. However, one has to back the tractor and thus bend his/her body to operate it and is also closer to the chute, which means greater potential for begin hit by thrown snow. In addition, the rear PTO will turn a bit slower than for a front-mounted model. (The manufacturers listed here produce "universal" snow blowers, i.e., they can be used on various makes of tractors, not just for one brand.)
Cost range: $1,500-$3,000, depending on dimensions, tractor type, etc.
Limitations Addressed by Product: Upper extremity, Lower extremity, Strength/endurance, Back
