Lift-Up Remote Control Gate
Kemper, MN, dairyman Myron Kvittem designed a Lift-Up Remote Control Gate to let his dairy cattle in and out of the feedlot simply by flipping a switch in the barn. The base of the gate is hinged to a small cement slab. An electrical actuator mounted on the slab pulls on the upper part of the gate, causing it to pivot upwards (like a railroad crossing gate) so the cattle can pass through. On the side of the gate away from the hinge are two posts for the gate to slide between when in the lowered position.
