Visual-Interpreter Services
Visual-Interpreter Services are designed to provide anytime/anywhere assistance to people with vision impairments by delivering information regarding a wide range of everyday tasks or special challenges about which they have questions. Two sources of such assistance are Aira and Be-My-Eyes. Both are globally accessible and both are accessed via a smartphone camera and free app (either iOS or Android). Aira, which is a subscription service, connects one on-demand and live with hired trained professionals; Be My Eyes, which is free of charge, connects one (through live video calls) with sighted volunteers and/or company representatives. In both cases, users provide the services with photos or video, and the service representatives describe the object, guide the user in completing tasks, etc.
Cost range: Aira (min./mo.)-$100 for 25, $190 for 50, $365 for 100. Be My Eyes-None.
