Kenneth Stennett's Stationary Sling Lift
Kenneth Stennett's Stationary Sling Lift, used by the Waterloo, MS, farmer to board his Kubota 4030 tractor and other equipment, is mounted on a roller track in his machinery storage shed. Using the device, he can be raised, rolled above the tractor or other machinery seat, then lowered into position. He purchased a certified person-lifting hoist that includes a 500-pound-ratedcapacity sling and attached it to rollers riding on the bottom flange of a 6-inch "I" beam mounted across the shed width (see figure). The hoist has a 16-feet-per-minute lifting speed and is powered by 115-volt AC. The flexibility of this independent stationary sling lift also allows him to access his riding lawnmower and ATV when under the "I" beam. Because no mast or lift mechanism is fastened directly to his tractor, Stennett is able to maneuver in very tight quarters around his farmstead without damaging the buildings.
