Foot-Operated Header Height Controls
Foot-Operated Header Height Controls

Farmers Larry Gray of Union City, TN, and John Campbell of Burnettsville, IN, have designed similar Foot-Operated Header Height Controls for their combines. Both devices employ two single-pole/ single-throw, momentary push-button electrical switches mounted under a rocking steel plate. Rocking the plate forward activates one switch, while rocking it backward activates the other switch. One of the switches is wired to raise the header, the other to lower it. Springs hold the plate in the center position so that neither switch can be activated until the plate is rocked. Steel pegs prevent the operator from crushing the switches by rocking the plate too far. The switches, wire, and steel plate are inexpensive, making this a very economical modification.
