Electric Hydraulic Controls
Electric Hydraulic Controls allow Kewanna, IN, farmer Don St. Clair to operate his tractor's hydraulic valves by flipping a switch mounted near the operator's seat. Converting to electric control was accomplished without replacing the existing hydraulic valves merely by adding an auxiliary electro-hydraulic valve to the circuit. The auxiliary valve, activated electrically from the tractor's existing 12-volt system, is fastened to the back of the tractor next to the remote hydraulic ports and is connected to the ports by hoses. The control lever in the cab is locked in the "on" position to provide constant hydraulic pressure to the auxiliary valve. Hoses run from the remaining ports on the auxiliary valve to the remote hydraulic cylinders; and the momentary toggle switch that operates the valve is mounted conveniently in the cab. By a flip of the switch, St. Clair can shift the auxiliary valve to control the remote hydraulic cylinders.
