Mechanical Lever Transfer
A Mechanical Lever Transfer, which puts hydraulic levers on both sides of the operator's seat, was relatively easy for Aplington, IA, farmer Kent Sents because of his tractor's already exposed lever linkages. The relocation involved mounting a set of levers on the left side of the operator's station that he could easily reach. The left and right sets were connected in such a way that movement of the left-side lever resulted in movement of the corresponding right-side lever. This was done by (a) mounting a horizontal, round shaft behind the seat so it rotated freely on its mounts; (b) welding vertical, flat bars downwards from each end of the shaft; then (c) linking the bottom end of the bars to the levers on each side with pinned joints to allow free movement. When the left-side lever is pulled, its linkage pushes on the vertical bar, causing the horizontal shaft to rotate. As it rotates, the bar on the right also moves, pulling the linkage and moving the right-side lever to operate the hydraulic valves.
